Specification-first, compatibility-first

About Smart Device Compare

Smart Device Compare helps you check whether a smart home device fits the setup you already have before you buy it: which platforms it works with, what hub or network it needs, and which specifications are still unknown.

What the site does

The catalog lists 1,264 devices across 39 categories from 104 brands. You can compare up to three devices side by side, browse devices by the platform or network they support on the compatibility pages, and read buying guides that explain what to check for your home.

How devices are listed

The catalog was imported from Smart Home Compared and is shown with its recorded values, including the ones that are missing. Where we have checked a field against the manufacturer’s own documentation, the field shows a source badge with the document and the date it was checked. Everything else is labelled as catalog data. Our methodology explains the evidence labels in detail.

A device appears because it is in the catalog, not because we recommend it. Lists are sorted by name or by the requirement being checked, never by payment.

What we do not do

  • We do not test devices hands-on, and we do not claim to.
  • We do not publish star ratings, rankings or “best” lists.
  • We do not show prices, because retailer prices and stock change too often to keep accurate. Retailer links open the current listing.
  • We do not treat a missing value as a “No”; unknown stays unknown until a source confirms it.

How we make money

Some retailer links are affiliate links. If you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, Smart Device Compare earns from qualifying purchases. Commissions do not change which devices are listed, how they are ordered, or what their specifications say.

Corrections and contact

If a specification is wrong or out of date, tell us on the contact page. Include the model, your region and, if you can, a link to the manufacturer’s documentation. Our privacy notice explains what information the site uses.
