Browsing and searches

You do not need an account to browse this directory. The site has no checkout, payment collection or newsletter signup.

When you search the site, your search text is sent to our server to find matching products. The search feature does not write a search history to our catalog database. Requests can still appear in hosting access logs, so avoid entering personal or confidential information.

Serving a page involves receiving technical information such as your IP address, requested URL and browser information. Hosting infrastructure may keep access or error logs for operation and security. Log retention depends on the hosting service and its configuration.

Your comparison shortlist

When you add devices to a comparison, the site saves their names, identifiers and categories in your browser’s local storage. This lets your shortlist remain available when you return using the same browser. It is not an account and does not synchronize between devices.

The shortlist has no automatic expiry. Use “Clear” in the comparison tray to empty the active shortlist, or clear this website’s data in your browser settings to remove all stored entries, including older shortlist data. Clearing browser data may reset your choices.

Opening or sharing a comparison sends the selected device identifiers in the page URL to the server. Anyone with that link can see which devices the comparison contains.

Cookies and analytics

The current website application does not set analytics or advertising cookies and does not include a third-party analytics script. The comparison feature uses local storage as described above. External websites and image providers may handle requests differently under their own policies.

Product images and external websites

Some product images load directly from external image providers, including Amazon. Your browser connects to those providers to display the images, which exposes technical information such as your IP address and browser information to them.

Manufacturer references and retailer links take you to other websites. Those sites handle your information under their own privacy notices. Review the destination’s notice before providing personal information.

Affiliate links

Some retailer links include an affiliate identifier for Smart Device Compare. A retailer may use that identifier and its own tracking methods to attribute a purchase, and we may earn a commission. The identifier in our links identifies this website, not a visitor account. Any checkout and payment information you provide is handled by the retailer.

Contacting us

If you email us, your email provider and the receiving mail service process your message, sender details and any attachments. Include only the information needed to explain your question; do not send passwords or payment details.
