What the catalog tells us
These counts describe the available data, not a quality score. More features do not automatically make a better device.
Consider your setup
Confirm which features appear in Apple Home and whether extra hardware or a subscription is needed for your intended use.
Inspect the specificationsConsider your setup
Check the integration method, supported model and firmware. A catalog Yes does not establish local control or official support.
Inspect the specificationsConsider your setup
Confirm the exact device type and the features exposed in your chosen platform. Protocol support does not establish feature parity across apps.
Inspect the specificationsYour priorities, side by side
Mark the specifications you care about. Open manufacturer sources for verification scope; fields without citations remain catalog data. Expand notes for other qualifications.

The Meross app sends instant notifications for system irregularities.
Real-time app alerts for low battery and freeze risk, the latter triggered when the local minimum temperature drops below a threshold you set. Without a flow meter the Lite cannot raise the water shortage and leakage alarms its Hydro ONE sibling does.
The official specification lists the timer's wireless standard as 433MHz RF and requires a Meross Smart Hub: the hub holds the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi radio, the timer does not. | One hub covers up to 24 timers.
Bluetooth Low Energy powers SONOFF's Proximity mode, which lets a phone control the valve and set schedules directly when there is no Zigbee gateway or the outdoor signal is unstable. Zigbee mode and Proximity mode are used one at a time, not together.
Zigbee 3.0 end device, so it needs a coordinator or gateway to join a network. SONOFF lists the ZBBridge-P, ZBBridge-U, NSPanel Pro and iHost as its own gateways, plus the Dongle Plus MG24, Dongle Lite MG21, Dongle Max and ZBDongle-P/-E for Home Assistant.
Weather-based Smart Skip suspends watering before, during and after rain and in freezing or high-wind conditions, and an adjustable auto shut-off (15 minutes by default) closes the valve on its own.
Smart scenes trigger on valve state, an irrigation duration reaching a set number of minutes, or the battery dropping below a set level, and act on valve state or a delay. Scene linkage is available on every gateway SONOFF lists, including Alexa and SmartThings.
The official feature list describes one-touch manual watering on the two zone buttons and never mentions a child or button lock.
A child lock is provided.
Sonoff Hydro ONE Lite manufacturer product page →EU and US hose thread variants are not interchangeable.
Document check only; not a hands-on test or verification of every regional or firmware variant.
With the child lock on, the local button is disabled and control is only available through the app.
The app keeps a watering history alongside historical water consumption.
Daily, monthly and half-yearly charts of watering duration, viewable and downloadable. The Lite records duration only, where the Hydro ONE also records volume.
The timer tracks water usage.
Meross Smart Sprinkler Timer MST200 manufacturer product page →US kit variant. The timer and hub have different electrical and weather-resistance ratings; batteries are not included.
Document check only; not a hands-on test or verification of every regional or firmware variant.
Real-time and historical water consumption per zone in the Meross app.
No flow meter. SONOFF's Hydro series comparison shows the flow meter on the Hydro ONE and the Zigbee Smart Water Valve, and marks it absent on the Lite, which is the difference between the two models.

Listed as supported on the official product page, through the Meross Smart Hub the timer is paired to. | Meross notes that Apple Home coverage is voice and remote control, without Apple Home automation features.
SONOFF's Matter bridge device list covers its Hydro water valves but states they are supported only in Google Home, because Apple Home does not implement the water valve device type. Apple Home has no Zigbee radio either, so there is no other route in.
Listed as supported on the official product page, through the Meross Smart Hub the timer is paired to.
The product page states the valve integrates with ecosystems like Home Assistant or Google Home through a Zigbee gateway or coordinator. SONOFF's bridged device list confirms Google Home is the one Matter platform that renders the water valve device type, reached through a SONOFF Matter bridge or through eWeLink cloud-to-cloud linking.
The community Meross LAN integration for Home Assistant (HACS) reaches the timer through the hub. MST200 support landed in the 6.0.0 alpha line, where testers report both zone switches and the per-channel watering settings working; the 5.x releases detect it as an MST100 and expose only one zone.
SONOFF documents the Hydro ONE Lite on Home Assistant through both Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA, listing which features each exposes. ZHA additionally needs the script SONOFF publishes; without it the valve arrives as a plain on/off entity.
The official product page's compatibility matrix marks Matter and Thread as not supported.
The valve is not a Matter device itself: it is Zigbee 3.0 only. SONOFF republishes its Hydro water valves to Matter through its bridges (ZBBridge-U, iHost, NSPanel Pro, or eWeLink CUBE with a SONOFF Zigbee dongle), exposing valve configuration and control.
Listed as supported on the official product page, through the Meross Smart Hub the timer is paired to.
SONOFF's compatible Zigbee hubs table for the Hydro ONE Lite lists SmartThings through the AeoTec Smart Home Hub V3 acting as the Zigbee gateway, covering manual irrigation and scene linkage. Owners also report pairing it to an older Samsung V2 hub, where it appears as an on/off switch that schedules drive.
The official scheduling spec is time based only (start time, duration, frequency); water use is reported, not used as a stop condition.
SONOFF's own Hydro series comparison marks the Lite's smart schedules as duration only, against duration and capacity on the Hydro ONE. Without a flow meter there is no volume for a schedule to target.
The official scheduling spec is time based only (start time, duration, frequency); water use is reported, not used as a stop condition.
The Lite is the Hydro ONE sold without the flow meter, so it cannot measure or target a watering volume.
Watering schedules can be configured.
Meross Smart Sprinkler Timer MST200 manufacturer product page →US kit variant. The timer and hub have different electrical and weather-resistance ratings; batteries are not included.
Document check only; not a hands-on test or verification of every regional or firmware variant.
Per-zone schedules with adjustable start times, durations from 1 minute to 24 hours and frequency by weekday, fixed interval or odd/even days. | Watering plans are stored on the timer itself, so they keep running when the internet connection drops (the weather skip does not).
Up to six watering schedules can be configured.
Sonoff Hydro ONE Lite manufacturer product page →EU and US hose thread variants are not interchangeable.
Document check only; not a hands-on test or verification of every regional or firmware variant.
Six groups of smart schedules, each set by duration, with odd or even days, an interval of 1 to 30 days or specific weekdays. Rain delay skips tasks manually, seasonal adjustment applies a monthly multiplier, and weather-based adjustment skips the next 24 hours on rainfall, humidity or temperature thresholds.
SONOFF rates battery life at about 1 year under normal use, tested at two watering runs per day of 30 minutes each. The valve alerts on low battery and shuts off at a critical charge to avoid runaway watering.
The timer takes four 1.5 V alkaline AA batteries.
Meross Smart Sprinkler Timer MST200 manufacturer product page →US kit variant. The timer and hub have different electrical and weather-resistance ratings; batteries are not included.
Document check only; not a hands-on test or verification of every regional or firmware variant.
Input is 6V from four 1.5V AA cells, housed in a pull-out compartment with an integrated gasket. There is no mains or USB option.
